主要内容
复活岛巨人石像之谜，石像里面比外面要硬，早期研究员有错误的认识。做了两个实验，一个是探究如何制作石像，另一个试图重现如何运送石像到现在的地方，都没有成功。

The Postwar Economic Boom
主要内容
二战之后经济发展迅速，。 or financial capital alone would suffice to bring about development，导致1951年经济停止发展了一段时间，因为capital投资在technology上面而没有用在human resource上（受过教育的劳动力），。政府支持私有化经济，只有⅕ 的公司是国有经济，并且国有经济比私有经济发展的慢一些，但是两种公司都是比二战之前发展的要好的，再次强调人力资本的重要性。

The cinema
主要内容
早期电影以默片的形式，想幻灯片一样一张一张照片的播放，“Cinema was the child of photography.”，缺点在于演员在照片里不能和观众进行互动。好处在于没有语言障碍。
美国的电影和生活息息相关，俄国的导演用新技术拍摄战争片，也将演员生活和电影重叠，“accessible to the public”，女演员和当时女性形象重合。

主题：orchestra class monkey study
主要内容
pro说女生的orchestra表演特别棒，女生说上了一个教授的课，她自己写的一篇音乐是根据上课时候听得一个music受到的启发。学生找pro说一个study的opinion，这个study给monkey放音乐，学生觉得这个conclusion说monkey不喜欢是有问题， 因为她觉得给monkey听的音乐不是music但是pro觉得这个music只要不像猴子的叫声就是他们的music。

主题：合成材料和天然材料
主要内容
合成材料和天然材料。先讲了一种合成材料理论上臂实际上坚固，因为有很多t小问题，研究材料要从strong和weak的两个角度进行考虑。研究合成材料可以先从自然材料开始。

主题：museum
主要内容
男孩找museum工作人员，想去博物馆工作因为他是history major。女工作人员强调这是字校的博物馆，所以会给钱,然后男的就说要好好学习, 女的就说要求没那么高没必要所有都记住，这里举了 Picasso的画的例子，然后男的要当给孩子们 guide,但女的强调这些孩子己经是七岁以上了，没必要特意去弄的interesting,然后又说了木乃伊的事儿。

主题：liaison
主要内容
女的去找男的因为那个男的没有报备就去工作了，男学生因为妈妈在mayer工作所以就interested in public service。开始讨论community和school的关系,学生抱怨空间太小，周边居民抱怨他们太吵。女的说你没有好好读文章，因为文章说要报备。

主题：丝绸之路
主要内容
internatinoal trade很重要，silk road不管是买silk还有别的东西，名字是german取的不是roman
钱有可能被拿走，但是这种情况偶尔发生，anyways丝绸之路很重要
Lecture4
主题：建模预测天气
主要内容
三种方法，1.用以前的record但是以前的record又没有多少 2. 用rocks但是不是所有地方都有岩石。 3. 用年轮，树的。MADA建模，1970例子证明还挺成功的。但是现在有globalwarming会更困难，pro有说模型的variable很多，所以globalwarmning没多大影响。

There are two invitations. One is from a party with your friends and the other is that having a dinner party with your parents. Which one would you prefer and why?

定义：生产一种类似于之前品牌的产品来增加竞争力，坏处是会对原有产品产生冲击，好处是能对抗竞争对手。

professor举了一个自己在 automobile 公司做 executive manager 的切身经历，当时公司推出一款more stylish new car为了和另一家公司竞争，结果影响了自家公司之前销量很好的一款车
Task 5
问题：女孩的printer坏了
解决方案1：买个新的，和室友split the bill。
优点1：不用跑到学校的computer lab 去打印
缺点1：这是大学的最后一个学期了，没必要买新的。
解决方案2：跑去学校的computer lab打印。
优点2：free
缺点2：太麻烦了
Task 6
水生植物adaptation,例子是荷花第一调整高度
适应水位，第二叶子正面有气孔而不像陆生植物气孔在背面。
综合写作
Topic:Whether the caving paintings of Lascaux weremade to ensure successful hunting.
Reading
1. there are subject animals matters in the painting. Explanations: some animals are for hunting, such as bison, wild horses, and cattle. Some animals are wounded with arrows and spares. Some of migration animals are for hunting. Some animals are seasonal migration for hunting.
2. human figures in the painting have animals, head. Explanations: some human are in the painting having animals, head for disguising themselves. They could b?a hunter wearing a head mask.
3. there is the culture of local peopie. Explanations: What the animal showed in the painting is the local culture for people to have successful hunting. Animals in the painting have magical power
Listening
1.some of the hunting animals are not appearing. Explanations: some of the hunting animals are not in the painting, like cats. Reindeers should be in the painting, but they were not in the painting. There were just small group of wounded animals.
2. we don' t know the real meaning of the human figures. Explanations: human figures are not standing up. Some of them were at the back of the animals, like they were sleeping. So we don't know the real meaning.
3. they can communicate with animals. Explanations: local people have spirit of animals in the painting. They believe that they can communicate with animals through special ceremonies, so they painted them and hoped the magic power can help their communication.
